Completed measures to restore the transformer substation in the "Metropolis" housing complex
06.12.2024

On December 5, a transformer substation in the Metropolis complex caught fire, caused by an overload of the electrical system after stabilizing power outages.
The developer's power engineers immediately arrived at the scene to inspect the incident. The contractor "Consensus" was involved in the work to eliminate the accident. However, due to the constant damage and destruction of the Ukrainian power system by the Russians, it was not immediately possible to find the scarce equipment.
During December 5 and 6, the contractor found the necessary equipment in warehouses, and today light and heat were returned to the homes of our residents.
It should be noted that recently, in Kyiv alone, the number of accidents on power grids during stabilizing power outages, according to DTEK, has increased by almost 30%. Almost every day, electrical equipment and transformer substations catch fire or fail in different areas of the capital and its suburbs.
Among the main reasons are the simultaneous switching on of powerful appliances after the restoration of power supply, including individual heating boilers, and the fan-shaped power outages themselves, which affect the operation of transformer substations. Frequent power outages and voltage drops create an additional load on substations, which leads to their failure.
In order to avoid such emergencies in the future, the developer, together with the management company and contractors, are taking measures and design work to develop and implement an electricity balancing project so that the transformer substation can withstand constant stabilizing power outages, voltage drops, including peak loads that were not foreseen due to military operations.
We apologize for the temporary inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
